Cheltenham Is Back!
Cheltenham IS BACK
Chepstow may be billed as the season opener, but Cheltenham’s October meeting is where things really kick off for me.
There’s something about seeing horses come up that hill again. Familiar names return, fresh prospects put their reputations on the line, and the conversations we’ve had all summer finally meet a racecourse.
Everyone wants to spot a Festival horse. Sometimes we will; sometimes an impressive October winner will have had its day long before March. That’s part of the fun—and the challenge.
For punters, this is a weekend to pay attention. Who looks ready? Who needs the run? Which horses attract support, and does their history suggest that money matters? A seasonal return can tell us plenty, provided we look beyond the finishing position.
Then we roll on to Aintree on Sunday, with another afternoon to start putting the pieces together.
The notebook is open. The proper jumping weekends are back.
Cheltenham, we’ve missed you.
