In rear - bit short of room over 1f out - headway inside final furlong - kept on inside final 110yds - not reach leaders (jockey said - regarding running and riding - that his instructions were to go forward if gelding jumped well from stall 7 but also be prepared to go back and take his time if this did not materialise with a view to looking for inside run off home bend; he also indicated that trainer had told him gelding was a very honest type who will give you everything so don't feel compelled to use whip if it's not felt necessary; he explained that shortly after start he suffered interference due to pressure from both sides and as a result he lost his early position and decided to drop gelding in at rear; he added that he considered the early pace to be genuine; however ideally he would liked to have been a little closer on settling and - from his position - he was obliged to wait until race developed approaching home turn to mount his challenge; on straightening for home he told stewards he had obtained a passage between Zu Run to his outside and Lequinto to his inside at which point he commenced to ask gelding for his finishing effort and gelding had stayed on evenly making ground all the way to line despite racing in restricted room inside final 110yds to - in his opinion - obtain best possible placing; hos explantion was noted; vet had nothing to report)
