In rear - plenty to do 3 out - stayed on home straight - never near to challenge (inquiry held into the running and riding; rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; vet had nothing to report; rider stated instructions were to try and settle the gelding as he had shown tendencies to be keen and was also mindful of the step up in trip to 2m3f 188 yards on rain-softened ground; he added that the race was being run at an even pace and was satisfied with his positioning but was concerned by the jumping errors the horse was making - a fact he had reported at scales; he further explained that as he was making ground and asking for a more substantial effort at the top of the hill - his mount was badly hampered and became unbalanced as a result causing him to lose significant ground and momentum at which point elected to allow the horse to regain his feet before finishing off the race to obtain in his opinion the best possible placing under the circumstances; trainer confirmed the instructions were accurate and that he was satisfied with the ride given in the circumstances of the horse being hampered at a crucial stage of the race; explanations were noted)(op 6/1 tchd 9/2)
