Held up in rear - pushed along and some headway after 3 out - not clear run before 2 out - soon no impression (inquiry held into running and riding of mare which was held up in rear of field before given a hands and heels ride in straight to finish 9th of 16 runners - beaten 26 3/4 lengths; vet reported that mare had minor lacerations to both hind legs and mare was without her left hind shoe which mare lost prior to race; rider stated that his instructions were to take his time on mare and come with a late challenge; he explained that mare jumped first two hurdles cautiously and ended up further back than he wanted but at the time he felt mare was travelling nicely throughout race; he stated that there was a decent pace inrace so was not overly concerned to be held up in last pair going down back straight on final circuit; he added that mare's jumping improved on final circuit but once he asked mare to quicken approaching final bend - mare was hanging right; he further added that when he straightened mare up into home straight he wanted to make his move between rivals to help mare stay straight at which point a gap did not appear and he therefore switched right to continue his run where mare hung violently right-handed up straight - a matter that was reported to scales - and in his opinion - gave a hands and heels ride to line as best as he could with mare hanging so badly; trainer stated he was satisfied with ride according to instructions and with mare losing a shoe prior to race - may have caused mare to hang so violently right-handed on this occasion)(op 25/1 tchd 20/1)
