Dwelt start - raced in last - waiting for room 2f out - switched left and headway from 1f out - kept on final 110yds - nearest finish - did well in the circumstances (jockey said - regarding running and riding - that this was the first time that he was riding gelding having picked up the spare ride earlier this evening and that his instructions from trainer were to ride race as he found it in order to achieve best possible placing; having jumped from stall 4 he found himself racing at rear of field which had unexpectedly taken up position on outside running rail approaching 7f marker where he felt that gelding was off the bridle and not travelling particularly well; gelding later picked up the bridle but found himself behind a wall of horses and was denied a clear run for some distance - a fact that he had reported at scales; he went on to say that passing 2f marker he briefly had an opportunity to switch right before being denied and having to resume his position behind horses before he was able to switch left approaching the final furlong - when the gelding began to hang left - further diminishing his chance of a stronger finish; jockey was satisfied that he had obtained best possible placing; trainer confirmed the instructions and added that he was satisfied with ride under the circumstances)(op 10/1)
